Interview in English

Supernatural star Jensen Ackles says ego is a waste of time and for him, 'go to hell' has another meaning.

Jensen Ackles is not those actors who always knew what they wanted to be. When he was a child, he said was very clown and made plays at school, but then, he thought about doing Sports Medicine. Only when he moved to Los Angeles at age 18, he thought "natural" to become an actor. "One day I thought: 'That's cool, pays well and is fun to wake up and do performances,' "said Ackles in an interview with international media, which The Estado participated.

Today, at age 32, the man, which often is among the sexiest of Hollywood, besides have worked with James Cameron (in Dark Angel), he is the star of Supernatural, WB series that has been stretched and opens its 6th season in Brazil in November. In this chat, the actor has the recipe for staying so long on TV killing angels and demons.
What did you think of the series be stretched to a 6th year?
I am quite happy, because Eric (Kripke, the creator of series) would only make up to 5 year. So my expectation for the 6th season is higher than any other - except when I went to hell (at the end of Season 3), then yes because I thought: "Will I have a job next year?"
The expression "go to hell", has now a different connotation for you?
(Laughs) Now I have died a hundred times, and did not even care anymore.
Most of the time, you only act with your co-star Jared Padalecki. Do not you get seasick?
You know, have Misha (Collins, Castiel the angel) and Jim (Beaver, Bobby) on the lives of these guys is great because it gives the public the chance to see them interact with others.
And what do you dislike?
The time it takes to shoot an episode, especially in this kind of series of one hour. A movie is done in two, four months. We shot in a very fast step as far as a movie, but do it for nine months and five years. This can be quite tiring, but as I say, this is a good problem to have.
What is the trick to keep a show like Supernatural on the air for so long?
I think the genre is well accepted. Some people like comedy for laugh, others of drama for cry and there is who likes terror for be frightened. However, the real recipe for success is the relationship between the brothers. We combine the horror and the emotional factor of these two characters from week to week.
You and Jared interpret brothers for so long, you feel a bit like brothers?
The series would not have been to same itself we did not have that chemistry, so much in the set, as outside. And not just two us. We worked for five years with the same 150 people. We have seen babies born, there was my wedding and Jared's, we carry new babies ... Had many milestones with the group. It seems like high school, when you see the same people all day. Jared and I joked that we have been Sam and Dean for the past five years, more than we have been ourselves. I do not know if this is a kind of loss of identity, but it is a unique situation. We have a spontaneous atmosphere in the studio, there are no big egos, no stars, nothing.
Are not you a star?
Me? No, no. That is waste of time for everybody. In addition, many people who are invited to do participation say: "Dudes, you have much fun here." When the camera is filming people on the scene, and Jared and I stand behind the camera, we test how long they run out laughing in a serious scene. We do not like them to be serious.
This relaxation appears in one episode you get made fun of several TV shows (the 8th episode of the 5th year), don't you?
Yes, the episode Changing Channel was funny. We do a lot of slapstick in break, and the writers just pick up some of these ideas. I like not take ourselves seriously, I like that the series reveals real events, brings things of modern culture because it is entertainment and, ultimately, we want to be a fun show.
